State and Regional Board audits of SSMP’s over the past 6 years show that SSO documentation is the single largest area where dischargers fall short of regulatory requirements and expectations.  A sampling of completed SSMP audits show:

  • Conflicting information in the onsite SSO Incident File
  • Conflicting information between certified CIWQS reports and discharger hardcopy files
  • Incomplete SSO documentation
  • Inadequate detail of SSO volume determinations
  • Unreasonable estimates of SSO start times and a lack of documentation of how the start time was determined

This workshop will present a comprehensive roadmap to developing ironclad, defensible documentation for your SSOs.  Attendees will work real-world examples and complete SSO documentation as part of working toward a complete SSO Incident File. Attendees will leave with actual practice and a comprehensive guide, including forms, that can be used immediately to help ensure your SSO documentation and files are complete, defensible and will withstand regulatory scrutiny.
