One of the primary concerns to operators of chloraminated systems is nitrification in the distribution network. There are many parameters that can be monitored to anticipate the onset of nitrification. This class is designed to increase the awareness and understanding of this issue. Participants will gain experience in some of the field methods utilized in the analysis of this problem. Attendees will run methods for the measurement of free ammonia and monochloramine, pH, nitrite and alkalinity. Special emphasis is placed on instrument calibration and verification.
