Drinking Water System Emergency Response Plans Training
Location: City of Hayward, 24499 Soto Road, Hayward, CA
The Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) was amended by the Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002 (Bioterrorism Act) to address emergency water supplies. The Bioterrorism Act specifies actions that Community Water Supplies must take to improve the security of the Nation’s drinking water infrastructure. Not just a regulatory requirement for drinking water systems, having a Water System Emergency Response Plan is good risk management and good common sense.
As past earthquakes and recent fires show, a good disaster response plan can save lives, save money, and is a pivotal component of your agency’s long-term health.
In this workshop Chris Ewers P.E. will address the requirements for a Water System Emergency Response Plan (WSERP). Attendees will be guided through the RAMCAP assessment and a fill-in-the-blank starter kit for organizational hierarchy and external agency interface. By the end of the class, students will have their checklist largely completed. Take-aways will also include how to structure your response to avoid disasters, how to comply with federal disaster response requirements and guidelines to make creating or updating your WSERP a faster, more efficient process.
