Disinfection is a common process to both drinking water and wastewater treatment. This seminar details the basics of chlorination and monochloramination process steps and optimization utilitized in drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities. Topics include pH, alkalinity and colorimetric methods. Special focus will be on the importance and measurement of parameters: pH, alkalinity, nitrite, free ammonia, chlorine and monochloramine to water disinfection. Presentations and hands-on activities will provide proper sampling technique and measurement, instrument calibration and verification of measurement accuracy.
